Job Description
As a Strategic Topics Developer, you will lead or take active part in exploration and development projects connected to the sustainability topics that have been identified as strategic for the IKEA franchise system, including air pollution, biodiversity, climate, fair & equal, land use and water. The main aim is to further contribute to positively transforming the IKEA business, by setting the right pre-conditions for full integration of sustainability. You will work closely together with internal stakeholders from Inter IKEA Group core businesses, as well as IKEA franchisees and also external stakeholders and experts.
Main responsibilities:
Lead strategic topics’ related projects and initiatives spanning over the total IKEA value chain, together with and on behalf of the strategic topic leaders and other sustainability co-workers across the IKEA business. That includes mapping gaps, setting goals, defining proof points and creating input to Business plans, Roadmaps and Action plans while working with and through business teams and sustainability teams across all IKEA business units.
Support the Strategic Topic Leaders, together with the Sustainability Analysts, in the development of needed methodologies, goals and KPIs to measure performance and progress of the strategic sustainability topics.
Track progress towards approved goals and KPIs, gather feedback from internal and external stakeholders, and use data to identify improvements and suggest adjustments of plans and tools.
Lead or contribute to projects related to strategic topics, including documenting learnings, to secure agreed best practice and implementation / integration across the IKEA franchise system.
Liaise with Impact & Assessment, Public Affairs and Range Operations on relevant legislation and compliance needs, developments and movements and give input for needed actions in the business.
Support the strategic topic leaders with the annual double materiality assessment led by the Impact & Assessment function, as well as other assessments.
Support Inter IKEA businesses in capacity building initiatives to enable the integration of strategic sustainability topics into the IKEA business units’ priorities, by leading / supporting initiatives such as competence development and expertise.
Contribute with content to legal reporting, relevant sub-reports, revisions of components in the IKEA Strategic Framework, legal consultations and others.
Liaise with Impact & Assessment function, internal legal team on relevant legislation and compliance needs, developments and movements and give input for needed actions in the business.

As Raw Material Developer in Agriculture/Animal Welfare, you will work closely together with category business teams, sustainability developers and leaders, material & innovation teams and supply teams around the different supply offices. You will need to motivate and use an assignments-based approach to capitalize on the competence, specific knowhows and locations of different stakeholders throughout the IKEA supply organization. Your leadership will be a very important attribute to mobilize and progress your agenda.
You will pursue numerous complex and rewarding tasks, building detailed plan to advance the Agriculture Raw Material agenda, contributing to develop responsible sourcing common methodologies for traceability set-up, risk assessment and data collection. Your assignment is to:
Be responsible for leading and conducting Life cycle analysis of selected materials and supply chains and the corresponding emission factors that are needed for IKEA to understand the climate footprint of materials.
Support delivery of Material Directions by providing necessary subject-matter expertise and conducting necessary analysis to identify improvement actions and establishing a portfolio of activities to deliver to set strategic goals.
Support competence development on environmental impacts of materials and food, incl. conducting trainings.
Support maintenance and development of IKEA database of environmental emission factors for materials and food ingredients (LCA database).
Support projects which improve the quality or extent of the IKEA LCA database, both internally and externally.
Support development of requirements for how to measure needed material amounts to calculate the environmental impacts of materials and food.
You will report to Material & Innovation Development Manager in Purchasing Development, IKEA Supply.

A Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Material Science, Sustainability, or similar.
Good knowledge of Lifecycle Assessments (LCAs), e.g., the family of LCA ISO standards 140XX, impact assessment methods, JRC standards and other EU technical documents, GHG Protocol, and other carbon accounting methods.
Excellent analytical skills in data and complex systems and ability to analyse and model emission factors of materials and food based on a company’s specific supply chains.
Competent user of commercial LCA software, preferably experienced in SimaPro, and have a good understanding of life cycle inventory databases (Ecoinvent is a requirement).
Ability to slice and translate complex matters into simple and practical solutions and examples workable in a business context.
Capability to find ways forward when and where necessary system support or material data are not available.
Good skills in data management, programming (e.g., Python) and business analytics (e.g. Microsoft
Power BI) is an advantage.
Knowledge of GIS Systems (e.g., ArcGis or Grass) is an advantage.

What you will do

As a BDPO Project Leader you will support our stakeholders by simultaneously leading and being overall responsible for the execution of several complex projects assigned to you, from Project Directive till full completion of the agreed deliverables. You will work in a truly global environment and lead multi-disciplinary teams of high performing individuals from across the business to drive change.

Job Description
The assignment includes:
Accountable for solution delivery including business development, release management, life cycle management and the operation (run) of the solutions, business continuity and business support.
Responsible to create and maintain a solution roadmap.
Manage budget, follow up & review forecasts and accruals.
Lead / participate in steering groups and solution and supplier governance forums.
Secure established ways of working for the solution(s)
Manage key stakeholder expectations through strong relationships. Interact with process and business functions, super users, application management and software suppliers, Service Operations, Architecture and other relevant functions.
