As a Requirement & Design Engineer (RDE) you will be working with a great team and this is a creative assignment where you will need to get involved, look for opportunities and gaps, investigate the unknown, using your skills to take the design from ideation through concept generation, development and optimization and deliver ready to use solutions, fully verified in simulations and testing. You will work with both new development and improvements of the existing range by proactively searching for opportunities to challenge known patterns. You will work in close collaboration with your team and different stakeholders across the organization.
In this role you will be responsible for the design of components or solutions using CAD, secure quality, and prerequisites for compliance by setting the relevant legal and functional requirements, verify through simulations and tests. An important part of your assignment is to maintain and secure that the information in our PLM system is up to date and accurate.
To succeed and shine in this role we are looking for you who have studied mechanical engineering or equivalent and have experience in working with product development. It is meriting if you have knowledge in different materials such polymers, steel and wood, and different production methods. You have skills in SolidWorks or other corresponding CAD software, and basic knowledge in PLM systems.
Furthermore, you have elementary knowledge with strength calculations (FEA).

We are looking for a Product Requirement Engineer who can support the product development and improvement of our Dishwasher and Laundry

As a Product Requirement Engineer you are responsible for the specification of product during its full lifecycle. Your task as Product Requirement Engineer is to translate customer’s wishes into technical requirements and to identify and create product requirements and to choose test methods for the product area.

You will also contribute to the creation of new and additional development tests needed for product validation that will contribute to better and safer products with higher customer satisfaction.

As Product Requirement Engineer you will work closely to a product development team as the requirement specialist responsible to set and document the relevant product requirements as well as to have a close dialogue with the purchasing organization and suppliers to secure successful implementation.

You need to have good insight into specifications and test methods and keep updated on changes in legislation and other external requirements that may influence the product areas under your responsibility. 

You will work with documentation for new product developments and well as with improvements to the running range.

This role requires some travels to meet with our suppliers and manufacturers.

Are you our new Requirement & Design Engineer?

IKEA Components is looking for a Requirement & Design Engineer who would like to work with mechanical design within our great team of Engineers within retail equipment. The base in your work will be to work with mechanical design.

As a Requirement & Design Engineer (RDE) you will be responsible for develop products within the retail equipment range in different materials and functions from concept sketches to final product. You will be responsible for improvements of the current range and creating range plans for better products and to be a development partner to IKEA product development functions within selected product ranges. Then you will lead both new developments as well as maintain and improve existing ranges based on Democratic Design and steer new product development towards selected standard and shared solutions. 

You will take ownership for selected area/s of range, material, or technology. Verify the area´s performance according to democratic design during development and its documentation during the complete life cycle and identify applicable requirements and when relevant, develop customer-based requirements and verification methods. 

All with the purpose to exceed customers’ expectations by providing a great range of solutions and products and identify and manage safety and technical risks during the development.  You will also initiate and perform development test and develop test methods when required.

Furthermore, you will also be responsible of/to: 
o    Manage appointed range, material, or technology.
o    Lead and execute projects within appointed area for new development and improvements.
o    Create, visualize, and optimize the mechanical design related to set product requirements.
o    Initiate and perform development test and develop test methods when required.
o    Identify and manage safety and technical risks during the development.
o    Develop, identify, and maintain standard solutions.
o    Perform basic Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis such as static Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and optimization including act as interface towards FEA engineers.
o    Ensure a qualitative, complete, and relevant documentation and keep it up to date during entire lifecycle.
