About IKEA

At IKEA, we do things a little different. We think, differently. Act, differently. And work differently as well. We like to break things. Like rules. And then make things. Like music-playing lamps. And beds disguised as sofas. Even plantballs that help us look after our planet. It’s all part of our vision - to create a better everyday life for the many. And it’s been keeping our co-workers going for over 75 years. By 2030, we hope to help millions more look forward to going home.

IKEA of Sweden, or IoS, is responsible for developing the IKEA range and making it available to stores and customers all over the world. IoS is based in Älmhult – the heart of IKEA and the center of IKEA range development.

You will take the new bio materials through the material testing and validation phase along with research institutes we work with, product verification with the innovation suppliers that we have identified and support the capacity build up phase with your knowledge and capabilities that you develop while developing new materials and technologies.

You will also be responsible for:
- Based on IKEA directions and knowledge about life at home, market situation and competitors on the IKEA markets, identify, initiate and lead end to end material innovation projects within the Polymers area;
- Test and validate the new materials as well as ensure product verification;

- Support development of IKEA material strategies in terms of material & innovation objectives and goals.
Qualifications

Your main tasks as a designer will mainly be, but not limited to:
Secure and strengthen the IKEA identity within the parameters of “Democratic Design, ” mentioned above
Design products to enable lower cost in all product development projects, in partnership with our Home Furnishing Businesses areas
