Job Description
In Customs and Trade Compliance, we act as a strategic partner and trusted resource to create a culture of compliance and drive the continuous pursuit of operational excellence. Our mission is to enable an agile and compliant value chain through active customs and trade facilitation, to make the IKEA vision and strategies a living reality.

We are now looking for a new colleague to join us in this exciting mission! The role as Customs Classification Manager is responsible to secure the timely assignment of customs tariff codes with a high degree of accuracy to receiving country interpretation for the entire IKEA range that includes home furnishing and food, as well as IKEA Components. The role is required to manage the end-to-end classification process in close collaboration with key stakeholders within the IKEA Range and Supply businesses to secure proper classification of IKEA products. The role will be responsible for classification and validation capabilities and associated end to end processes that enable the application of additional customs and trade compliance requirements throughout the IKEA supply chain.

Main responsibilities:
Responsible to lead, manage and develop a team of Customs classification specialists. Actively inspire, empower, coach, and support the team to perform to the best of their abilities and continuously develop in their assignments, while fostering a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
Support classification team in working closely with key stakeholders to enable an accurate tariff assignment according to receiving country expectations based upon product and product specifications.
Establishing a 4-eye principle framework that considers country variations in interpretation of customs product classification.
Manage a classification framework that considers trade remedies, trade defence, free trade agreement, and other government agency provisions associated with assignment of customs tariff codes.
Provide the framework for managing the BTI/Binding ruling processes.
Provide classification resources that support internal and external audits.
Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of the classification program, providing regular updates to leadership.
Serve as the primary advisor to leadership on all global classification matters, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
Responsible for securing that all tasks are performed compliantly according to set or agreed requirements.
Responsible to coordinate Global projects having a customs classification need.
Develop and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders on global classification requirements, ensuring awareness and understanding across the organization.



To be successful in this role, we believe you need to have
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in global trade compliance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on compliance.
Deep expertise in global trade compliance regulations, including export controls, sanctions, and customs regulations.
Previous experience in import and export industry from a global and/or regional environment.
Demonstrable knowledge and skills in the application of import and export related rules and regulations to business goals and daily operations.
Demonstrable ability to develop and build compliance into the business while meeting the business needs.
Demonstrable skills and abilities to contribute to self-audits and audits by external authorities.
Previous experience dealing with government authorities.
Strong networking skills, as well as the ability to build meaningful relationships and inspire people.
University degree or equivalent experience.
High level of communication and negotiation skills.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken and can easily communicate complex classification topics.

Job Description
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Customs Operations Support Center (COSC) Manager leads and manages the COSC Team as it carries out the day-to-day import and export operations, ensuring the efficient and accurate transmission of data to all required agencies.
You will:
· Manage the COSC team and make sure that they have the right opportunities to perform and continuously improve
· Ensure the organization of the workflow in an optimal way to secure necessary compliance with a high level of internal control
· Work to ensure compliant operational practices in support of a dynamic supply chain, while helping to promote a vibrant Customs organization that strives to be a trusted resource to all stakeholders.
· Be an integral part of the Customs Management Team
· Work to protect the IKEA brand through best practices and helps facilitate the realization of the IKEA vision to make a better everyday life for the many people.
Qualifications
WHO YOU ARE
You are able to manage and lead a relatively large Team, demonstrating an eagerness to develop yourself and your co-workers. You will combine this leadership with good Customs knowledge (procedures, regulations, valuation, classification and origin etc.). You have an organized way of working, are eager to drive change and find optimal working practices. You thrive in a diverse and global environment and have strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
To be successful in this position we believe that you have:
· A strong knowledge of Customs (procedures, regulations, valuation, classification and origin etc.)
· Previous experience dealing with external authorities
· Experience working in a process-oriented organization
· Fluency in English and strong verbal and written communication skills
· High level of analytical, investigative, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes in collaboration with all organizational levels
