Maintain and improve data products and solutions for sustainability impact data, and conduct strategic analysis on total IKEA value chain level
Advise and build competence in sustainability and related functions in the business, and support development of solutions for performance follow-up and scenario analysis
Lead and influence people through indirect leadership

Qualifications
To be successful in the role,
We believe you have excellent analytical skills in data and complex systems.
You are a creative problem solver who sees data as both a solution and a tool.
You have strong knowledge and experience in sustainability topics, data analysis and modelling and performance follow-up and goal-setting within a complex company set-up.
You also have strong communication skills and knowledge of strategic sustainability topics and proven capability of working well in a team and with many different stakeholders.
Experience in external reporting standards e.g. CSRD, SBTN, TNFD and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol is seen as an advantage.

Your assignment is to:
Be responsible for leading and conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of selected materials, and supply chains and the corresponding emission factors and material impact for IKEA to understand the environmental footprint of materials.
Provide necessary subject-matter expertise and conduct necessary analysis to identify improvement options and propose a portfolio of actions to deliver to set strategic goals within material directions.
Facilitate competence development of stakeholders to enhance understanding of the environmental impacts of materials through targeted training and development initiatives.
Support maintenance and development of IKEA database of environmental emission factors for materials and food ingredients (LCA database).
Support projects to improve the quality and coverage of the IKEA LCA database, both internally and externally.
Contribute to the development of methodologies and requirements for measuring activity data and assessing the environmental impact of materials.

You will report to Material & Engineering Manager in Purchasing Development, Core Business Supply.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
A Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Ecology, Sustainability, or similar
Documented knowledge of Lifecycle Assessments (LCAs), e.g., the family of LCA ISO standards 140XX, impact assessment methods, JRC standards and related EU technical documents, GHG Protocol, and other carbon accounting methods.
Excellent analytical skills in data and complex systems and ability to analyse and model emission factors of materials and food based on a company’s specific supply chains.
Proven experience from the use of commercial LCA software like Open LCA, Gabi Sphera, Brightway or SimaPro, and have a good understanding of life cycle inventory databases (Ecoinvent is a requirement).
Ability to translate complex matters into simple and practical solutions and examples workable in a business context.
Capability to find ways forward when and where necessary system support or material data are not available.
Good skills in data management, programming (e.g., Python) and business analytics (e.g. Microsoft Power BI) is an advantage.
